Pablo Urbina´s last concert with London City Orchestra
On November 30th, 2019, Pablo Urbina had his last concert as Music Director of the London City Orchestra. Though he will officially continue in the post until the end of the current 19-20 season, other conductors will complete the remaining concerts for the season.
After 6 years at the helm of this orchestra, Pablo Urbina has decided to step down his role in this orchestra to focus on new projects. ” My career cannot be considered without LCO being closely associated to it; I grew up as a conductor with this orchestra, I helped them to develop and to reach horizons that they probably thought were not possible. They helped me to be the conductor I am today. I will miss them dearly but I cannot wait to see how much further they go in the future”.
Pablo joined the LCO family after its creation in 2013, and has grown the orchestra to become one of London´s leading non-professional ensembles. In his farewell party the orchestra thanked Pablo for his unconditional support to music making and for his belief in the orchestra. Per mutual agreement Pablo will remain as Music Director until the selection for a successor has been completed, and will become a permanent member of the Board of Trustees of the orchestra.
