On March 14th, Pablo Urbina took on the Bridgewater Hall stage in Manchester to conduct The Hallé Orchestra in the finals of this international competition. This was the culmination of 4 live rounds in which Urbina also conducted the members of the Hallé Youth Orchestra as well as an ensemble of The Hallé.
For this round Urbina conducted Sibelius Symphony No.3 and Mozart Marriage of Figaro Overture.
In his own words: “I am very humbled by this prize because despite of not having won, I am aware of the amazing talent that took part in the competition, and the overall talent that exists today… I am grateful that this competition has allowed me to show all what I want to express as a musician, and I thank the panel, the organisation, Siemens Arts and Sir Mark Elder for their support and this initiative. Congratulations to the winner, Euan Shields and to Agata Zajac”.
